say hello to

mr. hoppy golightly

He’s an English Angora bunny rabbit. He’s extra soft and fluffy like a pillow. He has pink eyes and pink ears, and he’s covered in snow white fur. Everyone loves to hug him—he just loves to eat kale and carrots.

Hoppy lives in New York City in a small one-room apartment near the Central Park Zoo with a tall girl named Mary. She named him Mr. Hoppy Golightly because she loves the movie “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” and she’s always dressed up like Holly Golightly.

Mary is a Fashion Editor at a magazine in Times Square. When she’s at work, she writes about fancy clothes, cool designers, shiny jewelry and fashion shows. She’s at work every weekday from 9am until 7pm—and sometimes she goes to events after work too.

Hoppy misses her.

Hoppy is lonely.

He’d like to go to the park and chase butterflies. He’d like to go to the rooftop garden and eat lettuce. He wouldn’t even mind getting a job to help Mary pay rent. Hey, maybe he’d even get to meet other city bunnies just like him!

Now, Hoppy doesn’t speak—everyone knows bunnies can’t speak (or can they?)—so to get Mary’s attention that Friday night, he gave her some nose nudges, threw his food, hopped in the trash can, refused to eat, bunny binkied across the room and then made her pillow into a litter box. EW!

On Saturday morning, Mary woke up confused. She couldn’t figure out why Mr. Hoppy Golightly was acting so strange. Was he sick? Did he drink too much spiked carrot juice last night? Was he hot?  He is wearing three Angora sweaters at once (in the middle of the summer)! Does he need a haircut? Does he need a friend?

Mary knew she didn’t have space for another rabbit in her small apartment. She sat on the couch and watched her little fluffball at play. He slid around on the kitchen tiles and then cleaned her hardwood floor with his fluffy tail until it shined like a diamond.

That’s when she realized he was bored. Maybe he needs a job!

But who would hire a fluffy Angora bunny? What could he do for work? He can’t speak so sales is out of the question. He poops every time he hops so he couldn’t work in a restaurant.

Mary took hoppy for a walk around nyc.

Mary decided to take Hoppy for a walk down 5th Avenue to check on something for work. She brushed his fur, put on his studded leather leash, high-top bunny sneakers and golden unicorn horn (why not?), and they went for a stroll.

The cabs swished by, the horns honked and the horses on Central Park South stopped in their tracks to check out Mr. Golightly. As one white horse leaned down to sniff him, Mary swooped him up and darted across the street towards 5th Avenue. They went to the corner where she grabbed black coffee and an everything bagel from her favorite street cart and then walked to Tiffany’s to have breakfast.

Tiffany’s was open early on a Saturday for an advertising photoshoot with the magazine Mary works for. Armed with coffee, a bagel and Hoppy, Mary walked into Tiffany’s to say hi to her boss and see if she needed help.

“Jill, this is my fluffy Angora bunny, Mr. Hoppy Golightly!” Mary said to her boss.

hoppy makes an entrance.

“Oh my! Oh-la-la!” Jill exclaimed as she spun him around and gave the fluffball a kiss on his wiggly little nose.

Hoppy crinkled his nose and closed his eyes. Ugh…Jill wore too much perfume and now her red lipstick is on his nose too!

BOOM! Tiffany’s backdoor swung open and a perfect line of models walked into the main room for the photoshoot. All of them were the same height in very tall heels.

As she wobbled in her heels, the girl in the back lost her balance, fell and knocked over a ladder—the photographer—and Mary! As Mary crashed to the ground, she lost hold of Hoppy and her coffee. Quick-thinking, Hoppy flew out of her arms and landed on a display case. The coffee wasn’t so lucky…it went flying, flipped upside down and landed on Jill’s head. She had a tray of very expensive jewelry in her hands. The jewels were swimming in coffee.

Make it shine.

“The jewels! My silk dress! My hair,” Jill started crying. “Models, you need to learn how to walk so you don’t fall head over heels and ruin my shoot!”

She put the tray of jewels down on the display case next to Hoppy and ran to the restroom to clean up. Mary followed her.

Hoppy giggled as he watched the mess unfold in slow motion. The clumsy models reminded him of his friends Thumper and Bambi and their first-time ice skating on the Central Park Ice Rink.

But then, Hoppy realized something…it’s his time to shine!

He did what any fluffy bunny rabbit should do—he turned around, plopped his tail over the jewels on the tray and began cleaning up the mess. Piece by piece, the coffee was absorbed and the jewelry began to shine again.

hoppy gets a job.

The staff and management at Tiffany’s were so thankful for Mr. Hoppy Golightly saving the day—and impressed with his shining and polishing skills—they offered him a job!

Now Hoppy is the Director of Shine at Tiffany’s. He gives the final polish to every item that leaves the store and even signs off with his fluffy paw print.

Guess what? Since Mary walks by Tiffany’s on her way to work, she drops off Hoppy at 8:30 AM and they get to share a quick breakfast at Tiffany’s every single morning. And sometimes an early dinner too!
